Get Evanston’s branch libraries off the chopping block. They’re at it again. Just like a year ago (and for several years before that), they want to close the branch libraries to close a budget deficit they created by spending, spending, spending. Only you, your friends and neighbors can stop this nonsense. Branch libraries serve thousands of people and cost less to maintain than what a few employees on the city payroll cost. Closing the branches will affect one of life’s pleasures for thousands, not to mention the tax revenue lost as north siders go to the Wilmette library with its free parking and ample shopping. Tell the Mayor, Aldermen, City Manager and the rest of the power structure to look elsewhere for budget cuts - and leave branch libraries alone. Email the Mayor, Aldermen and City Manager today.
